Final Blog of the Semester!

A)
B) My experience with blogging in this class was insurmountable. I learned a lot from blogging
such as how to set it up and helps me to avoid making grammar errors.
1. Overall, Blog-Fridays were great and was a great alternative than to be in a classroom and doing work.
2. My favourite blog of the semester is the Face in Hole blog. It was a fun blog because we got to play around with our pictures and edit our pictures to make us look funny or cool.
3. My least favourite blog of the semester was when we had to explain and define our words. My word was Gene therapy and I just felt that this blog was so boring and not as interesting as the other blogs that we had done.
4. Other blog activities I think students might like is the Can you Picture it? It was a fun blog because we got to upload pictures to characters in The Last Book In The Universe that we thought looked like them. It was fun and I had cool pictures to upload.
C)
1. My favourite activity/ part we did this semester was when we did our presentations on our famous person. My famous person was Michael Jordan and he was a fun and easy topic to research about.
2. The least enjoyable activity we did this semester was when we had to do questions every day for the Last Book in The Universe. Although it was easy, it was boring and not fun. It could be made better by adding something fun like a physical activity or doing plays for parts of the book.
3. My favourite famous person we studied about this semester was Oprah. She was my favourite famous person because she is an inspiration to many people by giving back to many people that are in need. It took her a while to get to the position she is in right now but she made it and is a huge iconic figure.
E) Good-bye to all! Hopefully everyone who reads my blog enjoys the contents of it and likes what I have posted on to it!

How To Questions

a. My favourite "How To" video would be the video on 'How To Escape From Handcuffs.'

b. It's my favourite video because it displayed an interesting way of escaping handcuffs and that I always wanted to figure out how to get handcuffs off without having to use a key. Its a good thing to know if you want to show your friends that you can get them off with having a key.

c. The most important tip in removing handcuffs is that you must remove the cover on the bobby pin for it to work effectively and also put the bobby pin into the keyhole and make a sort of hook so that you can unlock the handcuffs.

d. If I were to add another tip in removing handcuffs from myself I would get a normal bobby pin of normal size and is flexible so that you are able to make it unlock the handcuffs. If its not you won't have a good chance in removing the handcuffs.

Can You Picture It? Response

1) Rodman Philbrick was 27 years old when his first book was published. It took him since he was 16 years old which is eleven years, till he got his book published.

2) What makes Rodman Philbrick a great writer is that he has a great imagination. He has been writing ever since he was in the sixth grade and through that time he probably made great improvements in his writing mechanics. He also has a good memory and he can remember things back when he was 12 and can recall all the great ideas he had back then. Thats why Mr. Philbrick is a great author.

3) a) Spaz:

I chose Justin Long as Spaz because he is good at looking like a loser and act one as well. He is good at being a coward such as his role in the movie Live Free or Die Hard because he's a computer geek in the movie but he's also a big coward.

b) Ryter:

I chose Dumbledore from Harry Potter as Ryter because he looks very old and has a white beard like Ryter. They are also both very wise and can hand out useful advice when needed or not.

c) Little Face:

I chose Marvin Williams when he was in his little man role in Little Man because I thought it would be hilarious. He also didnt talk normal in front of the people who take care of him which is also like Little Face.

d) the Proov Girl:

I chose Misa Campo to represent Lanaya, the proov girl. I chose her because she is perfect and has the physical characteristics of a proov which makes my choice a good one. I'm not sure if she is as smart as a normal proov but she does look like one.

e) Monkey Boy:
I chose Mike Tyson to be my monkey boy. He has golden teeth that make him fearsome like the fangs of a monkey boy and he also has a tribal tattoo that makes him more scarier like the paint on the monkey boys' face.

Gene Therapy

Gene therapy is the application of genetic engineering to the transplantation of genes into human cells in order cure a disease caused by a genetic defect, as a missing enzyme. Basically gene therapy helps to cure diseases that are passed down through your family such as certain types of cancers. Its a great thing to use but it did spark a bit of controversy when it was released. The biology of human gene therapy is very complex, and there are many techniques that still need to be developed and diseases that need to be understood more fully before gene therapy can be used appropriately. The public policy debate surrounding the possible use of genetically engineered material in human subjects has been equally complex. Major participants in the debate have come from the fields of biology, government, law, medicine, philosophy, politics, and religion, each bringing different views to the discussion.

As in all medical therapy, the treatment on modifying the environment so that any harmful expression of the genotype. For example, in the disease phenyiketonuria the expression of the mutant gene is counteracted by putting the affected person on a diet low in phenylalanine. (Phenyiketonuria is an inherited disease due to faulty metabolism of phenylalanine, characterized by phenyiketones in the urine and usually first noted by signs of mental retardation in infancy.)

This is a form of gene therapy using an andenovirus vector.

Cyberpunk

1. There were quite a few futuristic things I noticed on the clip. For example I saw flying ships that didn't look like anything we have today and it was flying to a building that reminded me of the scenery of Death Star from Star Wars. There was also some scanner thing Deckard had to scan Rachel's eye to see if she was a replicant. That was pretty futuristic I think.

2. The scene created a mood that made me feel I was in a different age, an age that is far further on time where everything is advanced and technology is incredible. The film maker played the scene to make it sort of dark and gloomy, not really a happy and joyful scenery yet puts in futuristic elements to get the feeling you get watching the scene.

3. I like how the dude in the novel works for people to encode secrets for them on the computer. I also think its interesting how he gets in trouble with the wrong people and he is offered a cure but for a price. That's pretty interesting for me.

4. His name is Kano and he is from the Mortal Kombat series. Kano is part human and part robot. He is able to shoot lasers from one of his eyes and is a good martial artist. He rises beyond the level of mere brutality and aggression by also being sly and cunning. Kano is the leader of an international crime gang called the Black Dragon. His friends are the people on his side which is all evil. His enemies would be the good guys such as Liu Kang and Sonya Blade. His home would probably be the HQ of the Black Dragon. His hobbies would be being ruthless and fighting. His favourite food is unknown. His music is unknown as well.

Famous People in Advertising

A. i) I like the Pierce Brosnan advertisement on the Omega watch the most. I like it the most because it shows that its being advertised with the 007 sign and I'm a big fan of James Bond. I would be quite happy if I had a watch like that.

ii) I think the Nancy Lopez advertisement was the worst one there. I didn't like it because it looked so boring and by the first glance I wasn't interested and I would just flip the page if I had the magazine.

B. I think celebrities do deserve this kind of money from their endorsements. That's because they would rake in tons of money for their product all because they have a celebrity with a big name. More people would buy a product if somebody they know who is really famous endorses it. I would probably do the same thing.

C. i) Celebrities influence what some people buy. I think that commercials and magazines really get people into the product they are selling and the celebrities big names really help sell the product because people want to be just like them.

ii) I think there is a moderate amount of celebrities that endorse products. It looks like there is a good amount of them advertising products, not too little, not too much.

iii) I don't think that Michael Phelps should have been removed from endorsing Kellogg's. I think that it was a big mistake on his half and that he should have been forgiven and everything should be back to normal. I think that he was really stressed with all the training he had in all his years of swimming in the Olympics that he just wanted to chill and be a kid for once. That's what I think about Michael Phelps and how Kellogg's dropped him.
D. i)

ii)

iii) I chose Air Jordan because it was done by the man himself, Michael Jordan. I like the Air Jordan brand because it looks stylish and its a great basketball shoe. Michael Jordan is the best at basketball in all of time so I would definitely buy a shoe that he endorses.

Top 10 Day

A) My favourite hero in this 50 heroes and villains list would be Zorro. He is my favourite hero because he is a very brave and adventurous character and he wears a mask to conceal his identity. He also gets a beautiful girl in the first movie which is pretty sweet. My favourite villain in this list would be the Terminator. He is my favourite villain because he is a relentless machine that won't stop till it has accomplished what is was sent for. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the Terminator and its pretty cool because he does look like a killer.

B) The scientist that I like the best would probably be Sir Isaac Newton. He is my favourite scientist in this list because he wrote the Philosophiae naturalis principia mathematica in 1687 and is considered to be the greatest scientific book ever written. Newton also made known the the three laws of motion: 1.A body continues in a state of rest, or motion with a constant velocity, unless compelled to change by an unbalanced force. 2. The acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force acting upon it and inversely proportional to its mass. 3. For every action force, there is an equal and opposite reaction force.

C)My favourite male actor would be Adam Sandler. He is my favourite actor because he is pretty hilarious. He is also a well-paid triple threat: he writes, he produces, and he plays the class clown pretty well. Thats why I think Adam Sandler is my favourite male actor.
My favourite female actress would be Angelina Jolie. She is my favourite actress because he has been in some great movies such as Tomb Raider and Wanted. She is incredibly beautiful and I think that Brad Pitt is a lucky man haha. But still she is a pretty good actress.

D) My least favourite athlete on this list would be Alex Rodriguez, aka. A-Fraud. He used to be one of my favourite baseball players because he was an all around player, good defense, and is closing in on Barry Bonds' home run record. But when I found out about him using performance enhancing drugs, I totally flipped and I was pissed because you can now question if he's really that good. Alex Rodriguez is a great player but I think that this incident with him and the steroids is going to totally ruin his career, if not he might lose it.
